DESIGN OF TYPE A SPORTS HALL WITH A PARAMETRIC ARCHITECTURE APPROACH IN TOMOHON CITY

Abstract

The development of sports facilities is a key indicator in supporting the improvement of human resource quality while strengthening a region's image. Tomohon City, as one of the prominent tourism cities in North Sulawesi, holds great potential for hosting national-scale sporting events; however, its current facilities do not meet standard government requirements. This study aims to design a Type A Sports Hall (GOR) in Tomohon City using a parametric architecture approach capable of addressing functional, aesthetic, and local identity representation needs. The research methodology employs a descriptive qualitative approach through literature studies, site analysis, space requirements analysis, and data-driven parametric design exploration. The results demonstrate that applying parametric architecture enables the creation of an adaptive, dynamic, and contextually responsive building form. Furthermore, this design generates a spatial configuration that complies with the standards set by the Regulation of the Minister of Youth and Sports Number 8 of 2018, including spectator capacity, zoning, and supporting facilities. In conclusion, the parametric approach not only enhances architectural design quality but also plays a vital role in establishing a new landmark to reinforce Tomohon City's identity as a city of tourism and sports.
