DESIGN OF THE WEST PAPUA HIGH COURT OFFICE BASED ON POSTMODERN ARCHITECTURE IN MANOKWARI

Abstract

The development of legal institutions in Indonesia demands building facilities that not only fulfill functional needs but are also capable of representing the values of justice and local identity. Manokwari City, as the capital of West Papua Province, plays a strategic role in the governmental system, thus requiring a representative High Court Office facility. This study aims to design the West Papua High Court Office using a postmodern architecture approach that integrates functionality, aesthetics, and local cultural values. The method employed is an architectural design method through data collection stages, spatial requirement analysis, site analysis, and design concept development. The results indicate that the postmodern architecture approach yields a communicative, symbolic, and contextually responsive building design aligned with West Papua's local culture. The designed building serves not only as a legal facility but also as a visual representation of justice and regional identity.
