Abstract

The coastal area of Kema 3 Village, North Minahasa, particularly at the Batu Nona Resort recreational site, possesses strong waterfront scenic potential but faces climate threats in the form of strong Southerly winds that occur periodically from September to December. These extreme wind speeds have the potential to damage public facilities, gazebos, and building roof structures, as well as disrupt recreational activities and the operations of the local community. This community service program aims to design and implement a windbreaker installation responsive to coastal environmental conditions without obstructing the visual potential toward the sea. The methods utilized include participatory site analysis, wind pattern and topographic elevation mapping, the design of a porogami windbreaker structure based on weathering steel (corten steel) materials and porous translucent panels, as well as disaster-resilient construction education for management and local residents. The results of the service program demonstrate that the application of a modular windbreaker installation integrated with seating areas can significantly reduce wind speeds in the recreational and villa zones, while simultaneously enhancing the safety and aesthetics of coastal structures. Through this assistance, the community and site management gain technical understanding for independent and sustainable mitigation of strong wind disaster risks.
